Map of Dowsen ------------- Dowsen is a city on the northern tip of Heridoth on the world of Jorune from the Skyrealms of Jorune role playing game. The map of Dowsen was prepared by Howard Chalkley as part of a Heridoth play by mail game run in England by Mike Tittensor. The map was submitted for the 3420 PC turn (the game ran from 3411 to 3423). Technically it is not original artwork. It was produced by scanning a map of Thurso, Scotland at 300 DPI. A large amount of computer editing was then applied by Howard to produce the map as an 8 bit colour GIF. I then took the GIF from Howard, reduced the colour range from 8 bits per pixel to 4 and trimmed the borders. Both of these were done to make the image smaller and therefore easier to use. The final file is dowsen.tif - I used a TIFF file to allow the resolution data to be included. The key for the map is given below. Note that the pibber breeding farm is some distance outside the city walls in case of a thist frenzy. The barracks, chawthis and naval docks are not detailed because the Dharklade Council ordered that they should not be included on civilian maps.
