Overhead view of Meard ---------------------- For those that don't know, Meard is a city on the Eastern coast of Heridoth on the world of Jorune from the Skyrealms of Jorune role playing game. The picture of Meard is an overhead view, sketched at furious speed on the back of a low flying talmaron :-). The original pencil artwork was drawn by Dominic Green as part of a Heridoth play by mail game run in England by Mike Tittensor. The view is of Barrack Road in the Newport district. The figure lying sprawled in the middle of the road has just been thrown out of a soldier's illidge called the "Simban Durlig". The sign outside the illidge is that of a naked woman being ravished by Mearden soldiers, which fortunately cannot be seen in this picture. The women carrying the "End Croid Slavery Now" placard is Prefect Heriberta Tauntgoat, leader of the Croid Suffrage Party. The structure that looks like a helter-skelter with a satellite dish on it is in fact a lighthouse with an external staircase and a fake isho cannon. File meard2.jpg was scanned at 200 DPI, 256 grey levels. The JPEG quality factor was 80%, and the 811K file decompresses to 3732K. If you still have file meard.jpg (700K) then delete it - it is the same image but with a JPEG quality factor of 75%. This was found to have an undesirable effect on the sky so the quality factor was increased to 80%. File meard3.jpg was scanned at 300 DPI, 256 grey levels. The JPEG quality factor was 80%, and the 1647K file decompresses to 8M. Distribution rights: spread the picture far and wide but be sure to include this information file.
